With stunning red rock views, spiritual vibes, and artistic charm, Sedona, Arizona offers visitors unforgettable experiences—without needing to spend a fortune. Whether you’re here exploring hiking trails, browsing our local art galleries, or enjoying a relaxing weekend getaway, finding a great dinner spot is essential. As a local who has lived and worked in the area for nearly a decade, I've had my fair share of fantastic food in Sedona and I just can't resist sharing some of my personal favorites (with a suggestion or two from my local friends).
(the above video is the Ahi Poke Tower from The Hudson and it's my favorite dish in all of Sedona... keep reading!)
If you are looking for the best casual sit-down restaurants in Sedona, Arizona, these are some of my favorites:
1. The Hudson
Cuisine: American, Contemporary
Why It’s Great: The Hudson is a local gem with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and a fantastic selection of dishes. With menu options ranging from burgers to pasta and seasonal American fare, this spot has something for everyone. The portions are generous, the ingredients are fresh, and the views of the Sedona red rocks from the patio make it even more special. On a personal note: try the poke appetizer! I'm originally from Maryland and lived in a neighborhood where the local fisherman would bring home fresh Tuna right off-the-boat. We would slice it up and eat it right there. The Ahi Poke Tower is my favorite single dish at all of the restaurants in Sedona, which is why I listed The Hudson at #1. You can catch me there any chance I get!
My Favorite Dishes:
Ahi Poke Tower
Bison Burger
BBQ Braised Pork Tacos
2. Cowboy Club
Cuisine: American, Southwestern
Why It’s Great: For those who love Western charm and Southwestern flavors, Cowboy Club is a Sedona staple that offers classic American fare with a local twist. This family-owned spot serves up comfort food in a casual environment with great service. From juicy steaks to homestyle chili, the Cowboy Club is perfect for hearty appetites. I also happen to live right down the street from this local gem and walk there to grab the cactus fries more than I'd like to admit!
My Favorite Dishes:
Sedona Sirloin
Cactus Fries
Cowboy Up Burger
3. Chocolatree
Cuisine: Vegetarian, Organic, Healthy
Why It’s Great: To be transparent, I have never personally eaten at Chocolatree. BUT, I have been on the patio and it is an iconic Sedona spot that combines healthy, plant-based dishes with deliciously fresh ingredients. My local friends rave about it! If you're vegan, it's THE place to go. It's a fantastic choice for dinner if you’re looking for something organic, local, and affordable. Plus, it has a relaxed, rustic vibe with a garden patio that's perfect for an intimate dinner under the stars (I have been on their patio and it's *chef's kiss).
My Friends' Favorites:
Vegetable Stir Fry
Quinoa & Black Bean Chili
Raw Vegan Nachos
4. Thai Spices
Cuisine: Asian, Thai
Why It’s Great: Thai Spices is a Sedona hidden gem that offers a true taste of Thailand right in the heart of West Sedona. From fragrant curries and perfectly spiced stir-fries to fresh pad Thai and deliciously tangy tom yum soup, every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional techniques. Whether you're a fan of spicy dishes or prefer something more subtle, their menu has options to suit every palate, including vegetarian and gluten-free choices. Wanting a casual eat-at-home experience? Call in your order and pick it up to-go!
My Favorite Dishes (but let's be honest, you already have a favorite and you'll order that!):
Pad Woon Sen
Pad See Ew
Ginger Salmon
5. Pisa Lisa
Cuisine: Italian
Why It’s Great: If you're in the mood for authentic Italian cuisine in a cozy, casual setting, Pisa Lisa is a must-visit. With two locations, one in West Sedona and one in Village of Oak Creek, Pisa Lisa is known for its freshly prepared, wood-fired pizzas, homemade pasta, and welcoming atmosphere, Pisa Lisa offers a genuine taste of Italy with an Arizona twist. The menu features a variety of options, from perfectly crispy, artisan pizzas topped with fresh, local ingredients to flavorful pasta dishes that feel homemade and comforting. Their gelato is the best in Sedona and possibly all of Arizona (I hear they get it delivered fresh from a local spot in California), it's a MUST-TRY while you're in Sedona or VOC!
My Favorite Dishes:
Funghi Decadente
Au Savage
Burrata Caprese
Gelato (flavors change frequently!)
6. Rascal
Cuisine: American, Contemporary
Why It’s Great: Known for its casual, friendly atmosphere and flavorful, creative menu, Rascal offers a variety of dishes that are both satisfying and approachable. With options that highlight comfort food favorites, fresh ingredients, and inventive takes on classic American dishes, this cozy spot has something for everyone. Whether you're enjoying a burger, a fresh salad, or one of their delicious specials, Rascal provides great portions, attentive service, and affordable prices. Better yet, try their in-house infused whisky. As a whiskey and live music lover, this is my go-to spot for a casual date night.
(On a personal note, Rascal would be much higher on this list if they didn't market their crabcakes as "Maryland Blue Crab Cakes". As someone who was born and raised in Maryland, we beg you to please take the "Maryland" part out of the name!! - The same goes for you, ShoreBird!) - all in good jest though, I love both spots.
My Favorite Dishes:
Firecracker Shrimp
Tacos Al Pastor
Meatloaf and Gravy
7. Hideaway House
Cuisine: American, Classic Comfort
Why It’s Great: If you're searching for a cozy, welcoming spot with incredible views and a delicious menu, Hideaway House is a must-visit. Known for its warm, rustic charm and inviting atmosphere, Hideaway House offers a fantastic mix of comfort food, Italian-inspired dishes, and wood-fired pizzas that are as flavorful as they are satisfying. Whether you're in the mood for a fresh pasta dish, a perfectly crispy pizza, or a hearty salad, their menu has something for every palate. Hideaway House isn't necessarily a Sedona "secret" but it doesn't get mentioned nearly enough. Every time I bring someone new there who is visiting from out-of-town, they rave about the food and atmosphere. It's my mom's favorite restaurant in all of Sedona so I think that says something!
My Favorite Dishes:
Caramelized Onion Soup
Margherita Pizza
Peach and Pecan Cobbler
8. Tortas De Fuego
Cuisine: Mexican
Why It’s Great: If you're a fan of bold flavors and authentic Mexican cuisine, Tortas De Fuego in Sedona and Village of Oak Creek is a must-visit spot. Their house-made salsas and perfectly seasoned proteins are a standout, and the portions are generous, ensuring a filling and satisfying meal. Personally, I love going for the cheese dip and margaritas (look, I did say I am from the east coast) but if you love authentic Mexican food, this is the spot (backed by my Arizona-born Mexican-food-loving fiance)! If you really love Mexican food, hop up to Flagstaff and check out La Casita and El Tapatio too. Don't forget to go on a Tuesday. We love Taco Tuesdays around here.
My Favorite Dishes:
Red Rock Enchaladas
Green Chili Pork Huaraches
Deep Fried Cactus
On a footnote: all of these restaurants are kid-friendly, as are most restaurants in Sedona and VOC. If you're looking for an adult-only restaurant, I'll have to update the blog with a list of those but, in the meantime, check out Ambiante, Mariposa, and Enchantmant Resort. As for the restuarants listed above, they are all casual and cozy. Spots like The Hudson and The Rascal are a little more "upscale" but you can always head to dinner straight from your hike, as is the case with most restaurants in Sedona.
Sedona is a culinary playground, offering everything from Southwestern classics to modern American comfort food and healthy organic options—all without requiring you to spend a fortune. Whether you’re looking for a burger, fresh pasta, or a plant-based meal, these affordable dinner spots combine great flavor, atmosphere, and affordability.
Next time you find yourself in Sedona, be sure to visit one of these local favorites for a fantastic, budget-friendly dinner experience and don't forget to save this post or send it to a friend who is looking to make the most out of their next trip to Sedona, Arizona!
